Jake Hendrick • Head Coach

The 2019 campaign is the fourth for Jake Hendrick as head baseball coach at NSU. He was announced to his current role on July 17, 2015.

Northeastern State reached new heights in its NCAA Division II era with 28 wins, the most since 2002, while playing the seventh toughest schedule in the nation. Hendrick's pitching staff was also in to the top half of the MIAA in ERA and opponent batting average, with a no-hitter recorded on April 18 against Ark.-Fort Smith. In the postseason, the RiverHawks reached the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals, and had seven All-MIAA honors. Hendrick and Northeastern State also had one MLB Draft Selection with Ben Strahm being picked in the 23rd round by the San Francisco Giants. In the fall of 2017, the RiverHawks had a 3.20 team grade point average.

Since becoming head coach in 2015, Hendrick has led several improvements to Thomas C. Rousey Field which include: new bullpens, re-done foul territory fencing, and a remodel of the club house batting cage.

Parker Kruckenberg • Assistant Coach

Parker Kruckenberg joined the RiverHawks baseball coaching staff in the Aug. 2017 as its top assistant.

Kruckenberg came to NSU from Montana State-Billings (NCAA Division II) where he held a similar position with the Yellowjackets from 2014-17. While at MSUB, Kruckenberg won back-to-back Great Northwest American Conference (GNAC) regular season titles in his first two years. Kruckenberg's primary responsibility was over MSUB's infield and defense, and the Yellowjackets set a school record for fielding percentage in 2016.

Prior to arriving at MSUB, Kruckenberg served as a volunteer assistant coach for North Dakota State University in 2014, and reached the NCAA Division I baseball championships. In 2013, he we worked as a volunteer assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University, and holds experience as an assistant coach with the Thunder Bay Bordercats who participate in the Northwoods League. Kruckenberg, also served as an assistant in 2012 for Augsburg College (Minn.).

Kruckenberg earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from the University of Minnesota and holds a master's in applied kinesiology with a sports management emphasis from the U of M in 2012.

Kruckenberg attended Fargo South High School in North Dakota, where he grew up, and is married to his wife Erin.ss

Butch Rea • Graduate Assistant

Butch Rea joined the NSU baseball coaching staff during the 2016-17 academic year following a four-year playing career.

In the Summer of 2018, Rea was an Assistant Coach at Junction City Brigade, and won the Mid-Plains League Championship.

Rea played for the RiverHawks during the 2017 season and ended his career with a 33 game reached base streak and held a 25 game hitting streak during his senior campaign. Rea was named MIAA Hitter of the Week and was the NCBWA Central Region Hitter of the Week after batting .579 (11-for-19) with eight runs scored, and ten RBI out of the NSU leadoff spot.

In the postseason, Rea was named All-MIAA, and was a MIAA Scholar-Athlete honoree.

Before joining NSU, Rea played at Central Arkansas, and Cowley County Community College. At Cowley County CC, he helped the Tigers to a number-3 ranking, and a 54-5 overall record.

BRea is the brother of Robbie Rea who worked on the NSU coaching staff from 2016-17.
